Canada is a pre-eminent energy country because we are home to some of the world’s greatest energy people. Canadian energy potential has inspired some of the most talented, dedicated, and imaginative hearts and minds this country has known.
The Energy Council of Canada established the Canadian Energy Person of the Year Award in 2001 to recognize and pay tribute each year to a leader who has made a significant impact within the sector. Nominations are based upon a candidate’s outstanding accomplishments and their positive reputation in the community at large.
Award recipients demonstrate an ability to balance the economic, environmental, and social dimensions of energy development and delivery. Their accomplishments advance the Canadian energy sector nationally and internationally. Members of the energy industries nominate and choose award recipients through the Energy Council of Canada.
